On My Healing Journey - Why I Wear Earth Runners

Updated: Jun 5

Did you know that when you connect with the Earth by touching your hand or feet to grass, rocks, water, or dirt, your body synchronizes with the frequencies of the Earth? With every step, Earth Runner's helps realign the body by absorbing outside electrical charges and static energy that has been picked up from the world around us. Earth Runners are one key to this connection and healing.

“Our entire biological system – the brain and the earth itself – work on the same frequencies.” ~ Nicola Tesla

Hiking in the woods with Earth Runner shoes to heal
There is nothing better than hiking with your dogs in the woods, connecting with the Earth's energies, and clearing your mind.

Of course Nicola Tesla knew the immense power of the Earth and just how similarly in tune our bodies are with the Earth's frequencies. He was certainly brilliant. It is, however, incredibly sad that the more we have moved away from the Earth's frequency, the more we have lost this innate connection and power to heal. I am thankful that more and more of us are starting to question our lack of contact with the Earth and as a result, insane attachment to electronics.

And from this questioning, there are products being created that reconnect us with Mother Nature. Earth Runners calls this reconnection with our primal roots "rewilding" and actively promote their #RewildBeFree Lifestyle. This practice of connecting with the Earth is incredibly healing.

To be honest, reconnecting with Mother Nature has always been a focus of mine. I have been a long-time Earth Runner fan since basically they started in 2012. I found them shortly after I graduated college. At the time I had just moved to Dallas, TX (after living in NYC) and I was experiencing extremely odd health scares like a pilonidal cyst, a cyst in my throat that was closing my airway (which needed surgery to remove), shingles, and extreme exhaustion and fevers among other illness symptoms. It was this exact time in my life that I left the corporate world, turned to yoga and explored more holistic ways to heal and enjoy life. Thus, I stumbled upon the concept of earthing and found Earth Runners.

So, while I have a history of earthing, this desire has a newfound purpose - my healing from TMS. I am pouring my energy into improving my symptoms from adverse effects of TMS. I am finding more ways to help my body's natural healing processes from holistic methods like acupuncture and lymphatic massage to doctor recommendations like concussive protocols and neck stretches.

Side Note: If you are unfamiliar with my struggles post-TMS, please take a moment to read some of my blog posts on the topic:

As you may have read, my symptoms and path towards healing has not been linear, in fact I have days that are incredibly debilitating and days that feel as though the pain has plateaued, which I refer to as "operational head pain". Despite my level of head pain and other symptoms, I always walk our dogs at least 4 miles. Because my days vary so drastically, I try to find one way to incorporate healing into my day, especially the days that getting out of bed proves difficult. One of the ways I have found the easiest to incorporate healing into my every day routine is through wearing Earth Runners sandals on my hikes with our two dogs.

No matter what illness or health struggles that you are facing - like mine or otherwise - if you are able to walk, you can wear Earth Runners and "rewild" yourself. In a few studies from the National Library of Medicine, it is suggested to spend 30-40 minutes connected to the Earth a day to receive the benefits of earthing. Of course this can be done barefoot, working in the garden with your bare hands, or wearing Earth Runners.

“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.” ~ Kahlil Gibran

So, you may be asking what are the benefits of "rewilding" and I plan to tell you, but first, let me explain just how Earth Runners achieves this connection to the Earth's frequencies.

Earth Runners use a copper rivet under the sandal and a copper wire in their performance laces which are woven under the footbed and wrap around the foot and ankle. The copper rivet and laces all make contact with the Earth, and the laces make contact with your foot three times. The use of copper is two-fold: 1. copper does not rust and 2. copper has a high conductivity. As a result of copper's high conductivity, the metal aids in removing electrical discharge from our bodies and allows the Earth's electrical frequency to freely move through with little resistance.

And this allows for the ultimate healing through the realignment to Earth's frequency.

Now...

The Benefits of "Rewilding" aka Earthing:

  • Reduces inflammation (one of the believed main causes of disease) by allowing "negatively charged antioxidant electrons from the Earth to enter the body and neutralize positively charged free radicals at sites of inflammation"

  • Beneficial effect on blood glucose

  • Regulates the endocrine (hormones) and nervous systems (brain, spinal cord, and nerves)

  • Improves Sleep

  • Helps reduce overall pain in the body

  • Eliminates the "ambient voltage induced on the body from common electricity power sources"

  • Increases oxygen consumption

  • Reduces feelings and effects of DOMS (Delayed On-Set Muscle Soreness)

  • Supports cardiovascular health by thinning the blood which allows more oxygen delivery to tissues

  • Can improve autoimmune diseases such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis

If you'd like to learn more about earthing, I'd love to direct you to the documentary The Earthing Movie: The Remarkable Science of Grounding which introduces you to numerous people who have experienced the incredible healing powers of the Earth from Deepak Chopra M.D. to renowned healer Dr Joseph Mercola and others.

As you can see there are many benefits to earthing and for me, a way to allow my body to recover from TMS. I hope that you look more into the concept of earthing - if it is new to you - and explore more ways to align your frequency with the Earth's.

Of course, I would not miss out on an incredible opportunity as a yoga instructor to tie this to yogic teachings - the Yamas and Niyamas - that guide us on what to live by and how to better ourselves and our lives.

One teaching, in particular, comes to mind and that is the fifth Yama, Aparigraha which means non-possessiveness and non-attachment. This virtue helps us reconsider the possessions and people we have in our lives and steers us to a more simpler way of living and thinking. In class, I often offer the idea to put our electronics and phones away more often throughout the day and reconnect with nature - look closer at the clouds in the sky, sink our feet in the sand, or gaze up at the stars and just breathe. I often ask each yogi to ask themselves when they do take a moment to reconnect with the beauty of the Earth, if they can sense a weight being lifted, stress drift away, or a greater ease of thoughts by tuning into nature and letting go of what takes us away from the present.

I encourage you to try the same. Let's make is a goal to gain a deeper connection with the Earth. What ways are you most looking forward to or have already connected with the Earth? Tell me in the comments! I look forward to reading how you realign to the Earth's frequencies.

All my light. All my love.

Namaste,

Jordan
